The only 3 things in the world with real tangible value.

Firearms & Ammunition

Honestly, firearms and ammo are where you should start. As an asset, you cannot find a more reliable source that won’t lose value. You would really have to buy some crappy guns to lose money on them ever. And, even then, guns and ammo will never be worth “nothing”.

As a tool, in case of the world goes down the SHTF route, you can get the other two items on this list because you have guns and ammo and can take them by force or by trade. You can also use them for hunting which will provide food for you, your family, and your friends.

Solid investment and a means to get pretty much anything else you need — either by trade or by force — in a post-apocalyptic world.

Precious Metals

I carry a silver dollar with me every day. Because I know that no matter what happens — debit cards don’t work, electricity goes out, world is trying to end… etc. — 1 silver dollar is enough to get me enough gas to get home, get me enough food to eat if I am hungry, or get me a place to stay for the night.

We have used precious metals as a source of value since the beginning of time and that will never change. You should have at least enough gold, and or, silver to feed yourself for at least a year. And, carry a small bit with you in case the electrical grid goes down one day while you are away from home.

Also… you can trade precious metals for guns and ammo — which can be used to get more precious metals or food.

Food & Water

The one thing on the list that is most important. You have to feed yourself and your family. The other two are really just meant to get to this item.

However, having an abundance of food and water can be traded to get the other two items which will help you secure that you always have this item on the list.

Having a means to either grow or procure food and water will ensure you have the most valuable thing on the planet and that you can survive just about any situation.
